A BRIEF HISTORY

"SOME THINGS HAVE CHANGED !!!"

The T.I.G.T. League Was Founded in 1965 Below are most of the past commissioners.
The present commissioners will be presiding
in the 45th year of the TIGT's existence.

Actually it began in 1962, and consisted of 6 males and 3 females,
all teachers at Williamsville Junior High School, now Mill Middle.
All were complete duffers, and played
at Creekside most every Friday

It wasn’t a league in those days. It was a tournament,
ergo the name Teachers Invitational Tourney, which was vetoed
by the females who were going to play, as the anagram meant
they’d be playing in the TIT.
So, it was agreed to call it the TIGT.

In 1965 it became a league
of 2-man teams, the ladies opted out. Most teams were from Williamsville,
but we also had teams from Sweet Home and Amherst, and a token
Buffalo teacher.

It’s been played at Creekside (now Evergreen),
Ransom Oaks (now Glen Oaks), Audubon, back to
Evergreen (formerly Creekside), Oak Run, and Rothlands.
