1. Each match will be played for 5 wins or losses. If one player is absent and there is no substitute, that team may win only a MAXIMUM OF 1 POINT; head to head medal play. You will automatically FORFEIT all other points. If a match is only played with one player on each team, a MAXIMUM OF 3 POINTS (head to head for 1-5, 6-9, and individual medal) can be won by any one team, instead of the normal maximum of 5 points.

2. SCORING

(A) MATCH PLAY: A player vs. A player, B player vs. B player, TOTALSCORE against TOTAL SCORE, for each hole. At the end of the first 5 holes, the leading team will receive one win. Beginning on the sixth hole, the match will start even again. At the end of the ninth hole, the leading team will receive one win. Three points per hole, with ADD ON points for birdie, eagle, hole in one and "dog meat" on par 3 holes.
Birdie=1 extra point
Dog meat (closest to, the pin)=1 extra point (you must PAR THE HOLE WITHOUT HANDICAP STROKE).
Eagle=5 extra points
Hole in one=6 extra points
EXTRA POINTS FOR SUB-PAR SCORES ON A HOLE ARE DETERMINED WITHOUT HANDICAP.

(B) MEDAL PLAY (INDIVIDUAL): At the end of nine holes,each player will total his score and deduct the handicap for the round. The winning score between A player against A player will result in one win. The winning score of B player against B player will result in one win. If the match is played with only one player on each team, only one individual medal play point may be won.

(C) MEDAL PLAY (TEAM): At the end of nine holes, each team will total their score and deduct their handicap for the round. The low team score will result in one win. If the match is played with only one player on each team, NO TEAM POINT IS AWARDED.

(D) INDICATE ON THE SCORE CARD WHO IS THE (A) PLAYER AND WHO IS THE (B) PLAYER: Note: the A player is the one with the lower handicap.

The scoring for a normal match will be as it has always been:

1 HOLES 1 TO 5 ARE PLAYED FOR ONE WIN
2 HOLES 6 TO 9 ARE PLAYED FOR ONE WIN
3 MEDAL PLAY (INDIVIDUAL) A vs. A FOR ONE WIN
4 MEDAL PLAY (INDIVIDUAL) B vs. B FOR ONE WIN
5 MEDAL PLAY (TEAM)........ A+B vs. A+B FOR ONE WIN

(E) TIES: will be recorded as .5 for each team

3. It is the responsibility of individual teams to reschedule matches missed due to conflicts. Teams unable to play on a given Thursday should notify their opponent 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE. Failure to do so will result in an autormatic FORFEIT of the 5 points.


4. If you know you can't be there please call one of the substitutes. A list of substitutes will be made available before the first match of the season. You don't need a substitute from the list; anyone will be fine (including pre-approved select women). Please try everyone on the sub list first.

5. Remember that we have tee times which go from 3:08 to 4:15 PM. We rotate nines each week. Please use the official score card for the appropriate nine.

6. Turn In-your scorecard to either Dick Verso or Lou Lenoci. If they-are not at Rothlands, then give your card to someone who can get it to us ASAP. This last request is most Important in order for us to get timely weekly reports out to you that are accurate. "IF YOU FAIL TO SUBMIT YOUR CARD WITH THE SCORES FIGURED OUT, YOU WILL BE PLACED AT THE TOP OF THE LIST TO BE THE NEW COMMISSIONERS NEXT YEAR.

7. If the course is rained out on- any given Wednesday, that week's schedule will be omitted.

9. Slnce we are not playing at Evergreen anymore, there Is actual "rough" and the green has a "fringe." ll you are on the frlnge, you are NOT on the green and therefore CANNOT putt for a "dogmeat" point. Wlnter rules do not allow you to "roll the ball over" in the rough. We're not dlctating what you must do wlth regards to belng In the rough, but be sure you and your opponents agree on whether you will CHEAT or not.

9A. AGE RULE: Golfers age 70 or older may hit from the "RED" tees. However, when we play the Red course,on hole #3, those hitting from the Red tees can either hit from the Whites as a Par 5 or hit 2 from the Red tees (i.e. treat the tee shot from the Reds as your second shot).

1O. If you don't like these rules please let us know and we will be all too happy to send you all of our files so that you can run the league.

11. CONTROVERSIAL RULE #11.....No team will be eligible for the championship if, during the league schedule, they used a substitute in more than TWO matches. .........."Extenuating circumstances MAY BE taken into consideration,.......

ADDEND Rule #11

"Anyone having multiple partners during the same season is NOT eligible to
win the title. This will be enforced regardless whether
you played any matches with both of them or not. This does not apply to the
rule regarding substitutes".

ROTHLANDS ADDENDUM

If you hit a ball into a white staked area
off the tee, you should re-tee and you are hitting your
third shot. If it turns out the first ball is not out of
bounds then you may pick up the second drive with
no penalty. The same rule applies if you hit out of bounds
from the fairway. It is a stroke and distance penalty.
